Bank Indonesia is serious to change Bank Sulut status to be Foreign Exchange Bank

  Bank Indonesia (BI) is serious to upgrade higher status of Bank Sulut to be Foreign Exchange Bank in order to support this regional bank to play its positive role in international trade especially export and import. "Basically, BI gave serious attention toward the increasing of Bank Sulut to be Foreign Exchange Bank and now has been strengthening consolidation phase," said Ramlan Ginting,,the leader of BI Manado on Tuesday. Ramlan said, some requirements have fulfilled, but half of those still needed for consolidation with bank party, expected to be finished soon. " What was need to be consolidated no need to be mentioned, but essentially for the purpose of preparing this regional bank to be able to perform as a tough quality foreign exchange bank in facing competition," Ramlan said Being foreign  exchange bank,,Ramlan said was not easy, Bank had to be able to fulfill requirements not only capital but various things including human resources readiness and administration. "All requirements must had ready, then this bank status upgraded to foreign exchange bank,"Ramlan said Chief Director of Bank Sulut said that the target after June 2011 when Bank Sulut celebrates its age of 50 years, this bank already able to switch its status to be Foreign Exchange Bank," Jeffry said. According to Jeffry, the upgrading desire of Bank Sulut status to be Foreign exchange bank couldn`t be set apart from the plan of making this pride Bank of North Sulawesi society as Regional Champion as well as welcoming the role of North Sulawesi role in the international world that has been significantly dominant. "Bitung port has been prepared to be International Hub port as well as the development of Sam Ratulangi airport to be international airport and trade center in East Indonesia Area, Bank Sulut must ready through the way of make it as foreign exchange bank," Jeffry said. From the side of paid up capital, Jeffry said there was no problem, minimum standard Rp 150 billion as required already fulfilled, currently capital of bank owned by Provincials Government and Regencies/Cities Sulut and Gorontalo above Rp 160 billion.
